The BG Clinics
The patient in focus: medical excellence and competence from acute care to vocational and social reintegration. The institutions of the professional associations' clinics and trauma treatment centres make up the "Vereinigung Berufsgenossenschaftlicher Kliniken (VBGK)" (Association of BG Clinics). The VBGK promotes cooperation between the clinics and supports and coordinates the scientific work in trauma medicine and medical rehabilitation. Throughout Germany, BG clinics have more than 4,300 beds available. They hold resources for the treatment of particularly serious injuries - including 1,386 beds for trauma surgery, 495 beds for paraplegics and 64 beds for serious burns patients. In the two latter specialties, the BG clinics make a substantial contribution to overall care in Germany.

Exemplary trauma medicine throughout Europe
The BG trauma clinics practice a concept of comprehensive medical and social rehabilitation. Patients are cared for and treated holistically from the accident site through to the "second retirement report". Given the impressive medical and financial success, the statutory health insurance institutions are now also attempting to practice this system.

Always close to you
Rescue and cure with the highest competence - and of course, within a reasonable distance from the accident site. On average, the distance to the next BG clinic or trauma treatment centre is less than 200 km. Routes of this distance can be covered in reasonable time with an ambulance or rescue helicopter, especially when highly qualified personnel are on board and initial measures are already being taken during transportation.
