Treatment centres for severe burns injuries

55 percent of the beds set aside for severe burns injuries in Germany can be found in BG clinics.
As the face is so representative of a person, BG clinics take particular care to give the face of a burns patient a pleasing appearance.

The highly specialised teams of the intensive care units at the burns injuries centres of BG clinics in Ludwigshafen, Berlin, Hamburg, Bochum, Duisburg and Halle, the intensive care unit for severe burns injuries at Tübingen and the severe burns unit at Murnau are available around the clock. Since a large part of the outer protective layer is often burnt, the operating theatres are heated to the high temperature of 38 degrees in order to prevent the patient from cooling. The lack of protection is also the reason for the elaborate safety locks.

As soon as patients are sufficiently stabilised and the self-healing process has begun, further necessary measures such as reconstructive surgery, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, psychological support, and finally, reintegration into the workplace and family follow quickly. Then comes the part that was prepared from the outset: to make the traces left by severe burns on the face as invisible as possible.

To prevent thick scarring and visible changes to the skin, an innovative new procedure for spray transplantation has been developed, which is very well suited to treating the face.
